Why Manufacturing?

Move your mouse over image to enlarge

Every dollar spent in manufacturing adds $1.37 to the U.S. economy, and every 100 jobs in a manufacturing facility creates an additional 250 jobs in other sectors, yet because of the current skills gap, 2 million jobs will go unfilled over the next decade.

The Skills Gap in Manufacturing, 2015 and Beyond

Why Manufacturing for Students and Parents

The perception of a career in manufacturing needs to change. A new Manufacturing Institute study found only one in three Americans would encourage their children to pursue manufacturing careers.

Through the NTMA’s initiative to highlight “Emerging Leaders” in manufacturing two new videos have been produced. These two videos were produced to promote manufacturing career awareness.

Filling advanced manufacturing jobs in Pittsburgh through the making movement has also become a regional priority.
